Scrimgr — Privacy Policy

Scrimgr (the “Service”) helps coaches and teams organize private scrimmages, pickup sessions, and private training, and optionally lets parents list a minor as available for guest play in a marketplace visible to coach accounts. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Scope: this policy covers our public website, the Scrimgr web app, and the Scrimgr iOS app.
Quick summary
- We collect adult account details (e.g., name, email, phone) and team/scrimmage info (team name, coach names, age group, state, city).
- Guest Player marketplace: parents/guardians may optionally provide only non-identifying minor attributes: Gender, Play Age Group (e.g., U10/U11), and Playing Level (e.g., Premier 1). We do not collect a child’s name, photo, contact info, school, precise/real-time device location, daily schedule, or other personal identifiers in listings.
- Chat: one‑to‑one in‑app messaging exists only inside a specific request (e.g., after acceptance or rejection) between the two adult accounts involved. Chat content is stored in Firebase to operate the Service and for safety, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. Chats are not end‑to‑end encrypted.
- Pickup & Private Training: you may create and join sessions; event details (e.g., date/time, venue/address or city, capacity, notes) are collected to operate these features. We do not collect your precise device location.
- Notes: you may add private notes. Unless you choose to share or publish them in content visible to others, notes remain associated with your account.
- Instagram: you can optionally add a handle or profile link. We store what you provide and may display it to other users; we do not access Instagram on your behalf (no OAuth). Adults are responsible for any links they share, including links referring to a minor’s profile.
- We use Firebase for authentication and database hosting. We do not sell personal information.
- You can request access, correction, or deletion via privacy@scrimgr.com.
Information we collect
1) Information you provide (Adults 18+)
- Account & Login: name, email, password (hashed), phone.
- Team & Coach Details: team name, coach names, role, age group (e.g., 2013/2015/2016), state (required), city (free text), and other required team fields.
- Scrimmage, Pickup & Training: availability, preferred dates/times, session/event details (e.g., title, description, date/time, venue/address or city), capacity, and contact preferences.
- Chat Messages: one‑to‑one messages exchanged only within a specific request context (accepted or rejected). Chats are stored in Firebase to operate the Service and for safety, abuse prevention, and legal compliance. Chats are not end‑to‑end encrypted.
- Notes: private notes you add. Unless you choose to share or include them in public-facing content, we treat them as private to your account.
- Instagram (optional): handle or profile URL you provide for discovery/verification. We do not access your Instagram account (no OAuth). Adults are responsible for any links they share, including links related to a minor.
- Support & Feedback: messages you send us (e.g., feature requests/bug reports).
- Optional Team Media: team logo or image (not related to a child’s identity).
2) Guest Player Marketplace (Parents/Guardians only)
Parents/guardians may publish a limited, non-identifying listing for a minor. Allowed fields:
- Gender
- Play Age Group (e.g., U10, U11, U12)
- Playing Level (e.g., Premier 1, Premier 2, Competitive)
Prohibited: child name, photo/likeness, school, home address, precise/real-time device location, schedule, contact info, or any personal identifier. Listings are visible to coach accounts for discovery. Contact information may be shared by adult users at their discretion; Scrimgr does not automatically exchange contact information.
3) Information collected automatically
- Device & Usage: IP address, device type, browser type, app version, pages viewed, interactions, timestamps.
- Cookies/local storage: used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and improve performance.
4) Location
- We do not collect precise or real-time device geolocation.
- If you provide a venue/address/city for an event (scrimmage, pickup, training), we store the location you enter to operate the feature. This is not the same as collecting your device’s location.
5) iOS permissions
- Notifications (optional): with your consent, we may send push notifications about team activity, scrimmage updates, chat messages, pickup/private training sessions, or interest requests. You can turn this off in device settings.
- Photos (optional, team media only): if you upload a team logo/image, iOS may request photo library access. Child photos are not collected or permitted for guest listings.
How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service (incl. Firebase auth and data hosting).
- Enable team discovery and coordination for scrimmages, pickup sessions, and private training.
- Guest marketplace: display non-identifying listings, route interest requests, and enable adult-to-adult contact at users’ discretion.
- Chat: deliver one‑to‑one messages within a request, maintain conversation history, and enforce community standards and safety expectations.
- Notes: store your private notes and preferences.
- Instagram: display the handle/URL you provide for discovery.
- Communicate service notices and optional updates.
- Monitor usage, secure the platform, prevent fraud/abuse, and enforce our Terms (including automated and manual review where appropriate).
- Comply with legal obligations.
How we share information
- Service providers: trusted vendors (e.g., Google Firebase) under contract.
- Team interactions & events: name, team name, state/city, event details you post may be visible to other users to enable coordination.
- Guest marketplace: coaches see only the non-identifying listing fields. Adult contact information may be shared by users at their discretion; Scrimgr does not automatically exchange contact details.
- Chat: messages are visible to the two participants in the related request and may be processed by service providers to transmit/store content and for abuse prevention. We may review content to enforce Terms or comply with law.
- Instagram: handles/links you provide may be visible to other users. We do not access Instagram on your behalf.
- Legal & safety: we may disclose information to comply with law or protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business changes: info may transfer in a merger/acquisition/asset sale as permitted by law.
We do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Eligibility & parental controls
- Adults only: You must be 18+ to create an account or use the Service. Minors cannot create accounts.
- Parental representation: Only a parent or legal guardian may publish a guest listing and must ensure no child-identifying data is included in listings or chats.
- Age/identity safeguards: We may use reasonable steps (e.g., verified email/SMS; device signals; limited documentation in higher-risk cases) to help ensure only adults manage listings.
- Children’s privacy: We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn child personal data was submitted, we will delete it.
Chat & safety practices
- In-app chat: is one‑to‑one and tied to a specific request between two adult accounts. Do not include child-identifying information.
- No end-to-end encryption: chat is stored and may be reviewed to enforce Terms, investigate abuse, and comply with law.
- Two-adult rule encouraged: include another adult on communications about minors and follow your organization’s athlete-safety policies.
- Report & block: report suspicious activity via myller@scrimgr.com. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate our Terms or safety expectations.
- Emergency: if there is an immediate risk of harm, contact local law enforcement. We may report suspected child exploitation to authorities.
Data retention
- Account & content: retained while your account is active or as needed for the Service and legal obligations.
- Chat: retained for operation of the Service and safety/fraud prevention. We may retain limited records after account deletion where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to investigate abuse.
- Guest marketplace requests: minimal logs of accepted/declined interest are kept for fraud/security. Any adult contact details stored in request records may be redacted after a reasonable period (e.g., 90 days); non-identifying logs may remain.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International transfers
We are a U.S.-based service and primarily process data in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.
Your rights & choices
Access, update, delete
You may access/update account information via app settings. To request deletion, email myller@scrimgr.com from the address tied to your account. In-app deletion (iOS): if you created an account in our iOS app, you can initiate account deletion from in-app settings. Deleting your account removes guest listings and event participation; certain logs (e.g., safety/fraud) may be retained as permitted by law.
Marketing & notifications
Opt out of marketing emails via the unsubscribe link. Control push notifications in device settings.
Cookies & local storage
You can clear cookies/local storage in your browser. Doing so may sign you out or affect features.
State/Regional rights
California (CCPA/CPRA): rights to access, delete, and correct personal info. We do not sell or “share” personal info as defined by CPRA. Contact myller@scrimgr.com.
VA/CO/CT/UT: rights to access, delete, correct personal data, and opt out of sale/targeted ads (we do not sell or target). Contact us to exercise rights.
EEA/UK: rights to access, delete, correct, restrict, object (legitimate interests), portability, and withdraw consent where applicable. Contact us.
Firebase & third parties
We use Google Firebase for authentication and data storage (including chat and request records). Firebase may process limited device/usage info to provide its services. Where possible, we minimize data sharing and limit tracking to what is necessary for the Service.
If we add analytics or crash reporting in the future, this policy will be updated with details and opt-out where applicable.
Do Not Track
We do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, but we limit tracking to what is necessary and do not sell personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective date” shows the latest revision. Material changes will be posted in-app or otherwise communicated as required by law.
